Daniel Fortea (1878-1953) fue un guitarrista, compositor y pedagogo español. En 1909 fundó en Madrid su propia escuela de música e inició la Biblioteca Fortea, una de las más importantes colecciones de música para guitarra. Esta obra es anónima con arreglos de Daniel Fortea.
La Catedral (Agustín Pío Barrios 1885 - 1944) está considerada su obra maestra. Consta de tres movimientos: "Andante Religioso" y "Allegro Solemne", compuestos en 1921 y un tercero, el "Preludio" (Saudade) de 1939 el cual su autor comenzó a interpretar como un previo a los dos primeros movimientos constituyendo una sola obra.
