La Sonata n.º 74 is one of the numerous keyboard compositions by the Portuguese composer Carlos Seixas (Coimbra, 1704 - Lisbon, 1742). Seixas, a contemporary of J.S. Bach and Domenico Scarlatti, made significant contributions to the Baroque repertoire for harpsichord and organ. Although originally written for harpsichord, Sonata n.º 74 has been adapted for guitar, allowing performers to explore the melodic and harmonic richness of the work on this instrument.

The piece is characterised by its bipartite structure and a galant style, reflecting the transition between the late Baroque and early Classical periods. Performing it on guitar requires clear articulation and precise dynamic control to capture the essence and character of the original composition.
