Between 1940 and 1945, Heitor Villa-Lobos composed five Preludes for guitar, works that today form one of the cornerstones of the universal guitar repertoire. Each prelude is a musical portrait: an evocation of landscapes, emotions, characters, and memories. From the echoes of Bach to the deep roots of Brazilian folklore, these preludes combine European sensitivity with the strength and colour of the Ibero-American soul. More than mere musical exercises, they are intimate and powerful poetic declarations that invite the listener on a sound journey full of contrasts and depth.
